New Book

Running on Empty by SE Durrant is a great read for children aged 8+. This is a warm-hearted and thought-provoking read about an 11 year old London boy who, though a talented athlete, has many challenges to overcome. A great alternative to a chocolate egg for your son this Easter…(your daughter may enjoy it too).

Huddl - The Parenting Journey

The Huddl Philosophy
Across the UK, there’s a growing concern about the well-being of children. Pressured by exams, their peers, social media and other factors, children are feeling the strain: the latest research shows that 1 in 10 of 5-16 year olds have a diagnosable mental health problem. The good news is that healthcare professionals are working together to try and prevent such illness occurring and to develop better coping strategies if they do. Support is often provided for teachers, and others involved in education, and increasing number of schools are giving their pupils a greater understanding of mental health but the parent body is often forgotten and left behind.

Dr Rosemary Taylor will be speaking on the subject of ‘The Teenage Brain’ at the next Huddl event in Ipswich on 10th October 2017.

A very busy year...

A long overdue blog, with finally some time to think and write over the summer break. As ever, it’s not really a break, simply catch-up time. Here at Key Issues we have had our busiest academic year since we began back in 2001-ish. No complaints – it’s all good. A hugely enjoyable and long-running project with the International School of The Hague has meant a busy travel regime, alongside a lecture series delivered around a very scenic Norway. A keynote for HMC at the British Library in London was another highlight of the past year, as was the GSA Junior Heads’ Conference in Stratford. We were also delighted to work with a new colleague, Tony Richards, who delivered very high quality training on our behalf in Romania. Speaking commitments and training seminars around the UK have been plentiful and we are now gearing up for a very busy September and beyond.
